This year, Ohayocon’s Guests of Honor will only be offering paid autographs. Guests will sign at their tables throughout the day during Vendor Hall Hours, except when attending panels, taking breaks, or otherwise specified.
Autograph Rules:
All autographs are at the guest’s discretion. Guests have the right to refuse to sign anything or for anyone, at their sole discretion. Some guests may have special requests, such as no photos or voice recordings. All limitations set by the guest or Autographs Staff must be followed.
Guests may have merchandise and prints for sale at their discretion. Please have items ready for signing or payment prepared when you approach the front of the line. Confirm with the Autographs Manager or the guest’s liaison to find out if the guest accepts cash, cards, Google/Apple Pay, or a combination.
Personal items must be official, licensed products (no bootlegs), unless otherwise specified or allowed by the guest. Fan art may be declined on a case-by-case basis. Please verify with the Autographs Staff or the guest’s liaison.
To ensure fair access to all attendees, please limit your time with each guest. If the guest does not have a line, you may converse with them, but be mindful of other attendees and cues from the guest indicating when to wrap up the conversation.
No touching guests without permission. Always ask before offering hugs, handshakes, etc. Respect the guest’s choice if they decline. “No” is a complete sentence, and guests are not required to explain why they do not wish to engage in physical contact.
Guests have the right to refuse any and all consumable gifts. Please refrain from offering homemade food, opened pre-packaged items, or tampered packaging. All consumable gifts must be sealed and pre-packaged. If you have a consumable gift, consult the guest’s liaison before presenting it.
Items to be signed must adhere to Ohayocon’s policies, including regulations regarding props and weapons. Please review the Ohayocon [Props & Accessories Policy] if you are unsure whether your item is allowed.
General Q&A
Ohayocon has always offered free autographs. Why the change and what does this mean?
Many conventions have shifted away from offering free autographs and have adopted the paid autograph model. This change allows guests more time to interact with and meet as many attendees as possible during the convention weekend. Ohayocon supports our guests’ efforts to engage with attendees, and we are continually evolving our autograph policies. We hope to find a way to reintroduce free autographs into the convention experience in the near future.
How many items can I have signed?
Each purchased autograph is equivalent to one signed item. You may bring personal items for the guest to sign or purchase items from the guest. For any pricing inquiries, please speak with the guest’s liaison. Please note that autographs on personal items, Ohayocon badges, or guidebooks must be purchased before presenting them to the guest. The guest reserves the right to decline signing any particular item at their discretion.
Can I pay for extra items?
Yes, guests will have merchandise for sale at their tables, with prices clearly listed. Some may accept credit cards, but it is recommended to bring cash.
Will there be any photo ops?
Ohayocon will not have a designated photo op area or event. Unless otherwise specified, guests will offer photo opportunities for purchase at their tables.
How many autographs can I get?
Ohayocon imposes no limit on the number of paid autographs you can get. However, please be considerate of other attendees waiting in line. Guests will be signing throughout the day to accommodate as many people as possible over the weekend. If there are any limitations, Ohayocon will communicate them promptly as soon as we are informed.
Are accessibility accommodations available when purchasing autographs?
[Insert accessibility details here.]
How early can I line up for autographs?
You may line up at any time. Guests will be available for signing throughout the day, except when they are attending other scheduled programming. Please follow all instructions from Autographs Staff if there are any changes to a guest’s line.
Photographs Q&A
Can I get my picture taken with the guest?
Guests will offer photo/selfie opportunities for purchase at their tables, unless otherwise specified. Video recordings may not be allowed. Please check with the guest’s liaison for details on what is permitted and pricing information. If you don’t have someone to take the photo or prefer not to take a selfie, the liaison can assist by taking pictures for you.
Accessibility Accommodation Q&A
What if I have a disability that prevents me from standing for long periods? Do I need to stand in line? What accommodations are available?
To better accommodate accessibility needs, Ohayocon now offers an accessible line at all guest signing booths. If you require assistance due to mobility challenges or difficulty standing for extended periods, please use this line. Should the accessible line be too long, or if you need further accommodations, please contact an Autograph Staff member. We will do our best to assist you.
