At Ohayocon, all staff are volunteers. Every person you see helping behind the scenes or out on the floor is giving their time, energy, and creativity to make this convention possible. Because of this, you’ll see us use the words “staff” and “volunteer” interchangeably — they mean the same thing here. We are one team, united by a shared love of anime, fandom, and community.
Volunteering at Ohayocon isn’t just about pitching in — it’s about connection, creativity, and fun. You’ll make friends, gain new experiences, and see the con from a whole new perspective. Guided by our HUMAN framework, we prioritize inclusivity, safety, and transparency for every volunteer and attendee. We welcome people of all abilities and interests, and we’re excited to help you find the role that’s the best fit for you.
As a volunteer, you’ll enjoy perks like early entry to the Dealers’ Room, discounted or complimentary badges for next year, and special rewards for those who help with load-in and load-out. Most importantly, you’ll be part of the team that makes Ohayocon unforgettable.
• Be at least 18 years old by the start of the convention
• Be able to travel to and from Ohayocon independently
• Pass a background check
• Experience in customer service, hospitality, or related fields is helpful (previous con volunteer work is a bonus!)
• Humility, warmth, compassion, optimism, and initiative
• Ability to problem-solve and stay calm under pressure
Flexible, Fun, and Attendee-Facing
Support Crew are the welcoming faces of Ohayocon! With flexible commitment levels (choose 5, 10, or 15 hours), you’ll be right on the front lines—helping attendees, keeping lines moving, scanning badges, giving directions, distributing materials, and pitching in wherever the action is.
This path is perfect if you want to be part of the team without missing out on the con. You’ll make friends, see how the show comes together, and help create the energy that makes Ohayocon unforgettable.
✨ Your Hours = Your Savings
Every shift you take this year helps you save on next year’s badge:
✨ Load-In & Load-Out Cohort
Want all the perks without giving up your con time? Ohayocon doesn’t just happen during the weekend—the work starts before the doors open and continues after the last panel ends. These shifts are a great way to see the “behind-the-scenes” side of the convention, connect with fellow staff, and make a big impact on the overall success of the event.
We are opening a cohort of 12 individuals to take advantage of this unique As a thank-you, staff who pitch in for load-in and load-out will receive a guaranteed 50% discount code for next year, any additional hours worked will make you eligible for higher tiers and special perks for helping out!
If you’re interested, please let us know—you’ll be helping create the foundation (and smooth wrap-up) for the entire Ohayocon experience.
